Asia’s Got Talent Is Just Right For Steven Lim
All those years of honing your singing skills in the shower might finally pay off.
Asia’s Got Talent is back for a second season after it first premiered in 2015, and the world’s biggest talent competition is seeking the next generation of superstars that will take the region by storm.
If you’ve always dreamt of being famous and can’t stand the world not knowing just how talented you are, here’s your chance at stardom.
Charm the audience and judges with your talents and who knows, you might just become Asia’s very own Susan Boyle.
And if fame alone isn’t enough to tempt you, how about a mouth-watering cash prize of US$100,000 (S$140,300)?
Steven Lim’s Last Chance
Ask anyone about Steven Lim and the response might be disgust, laughter or just a rueful shake of the head.
However, despite all the hate and criticism that Steven Lim faces, the 41-year-old self-proclaimed superstar and entertainer still goes about his antics and performances with aplomb.
He’s well-known for joining MediaCorp’s Star Search in 2003, and also taking part in the first season of Singapore Idol in 2004. Here he is traumatising the judges with his yellow underwear.
He even took part in the Singapore auditions for Taiwanese singing competition Million Star in 2011.
Though he didn’t succeed in any of these talent competitions, he’s still dreaming of being a bonafide star even up till now, and we think Asia’s Got Talent will be the perfect stage for his last chance at glory, since — gasp — he isn’t getting any younger.
But without about his talent (or lack thereof)? Well, as proven by aspiring entertainers like Christian Spridon and Lorraine Bowen in the British version of the show, you don’t necessarily have to be able to sing or dance well to make it through the auditions. In fact, the two of them got the highly coveted golden buzzer, ensuring they automatically qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
It’s high time to step up your game for your one last shot at fame, Steven!
The talent competition welcomes contestants of all ages and talents, so if you have a peculiar gift that is unique to you this will be the perfect platform to showcase it.
The Got Talent franchise has been home to a number of truly mind-blowing acts over the years.

Equally amazing performances have been witnessed on Asia’s edition of the talent show. Read our story on the auditions from Season One that you just have to see to believe.
Auditions will be held on May 14 at the Marina Bay Sands’ magnificent Sands Theatre.
Contestants have to perform in front of judges who will give them constructive comments and decide if their act deserves to be put through to the next round. A public voting session by the judges will be conducted after the act, meaning participants will know on the spot if they’ve made it or not.
If you happen to be out of the country during the stipulated date, but are unwilling to pass up the chance to audition, you can also consider flying down to these countries.

Meet The Judges
No, Simon Cowell will not be heading the judging panel for Asia’s Got Talent. *Sigh*
But all four of last season’s judges will be returning to the hot seat this year.
Indonesian singer-songwriter Anggun, Grammy award winner David Foster, the Spice Girls’ Melanie C and Taiwanese-American pop idol Vanness Wu will be the ones you need to impress if you’re going to get through the auditions.
This is the chance all you wannabe superstars have been waiting for. So get out there and show the region what you’re capable of.
And for those who are not participating in the show — let’s sit back, relax and enjoy the thrills and spills of the competition.
