A love that knows no boundaries

16,978 kilometres between them did not stop one Brazilian man from reuniting with his true love in Singapore.

28-year-old Miquéias A. W. Rohr, a Brazilian and 25-year-old Rebecca Ang, a Singaporean, fell in love while they were both studying in Australia in 2013. The couple were separated when Miquéias had to return to Brazil in 2014, after his exchange ended.

Determined to keep the flame alive, Miquéias embarked on “Operation Rebecca” where he raised money by selling thousands of  brigadeiros (Brazilian chocolate fudge ball candy) to raise enough money to travel to Singapore and marry Rebecca. With his mother helping him make the brigadeiros, Miquéias spent five months selling the candy at R$1  (SGD$0.38) each.

Miquéias  fell short of his 10,000 brigadeiros target, but did raise a whopping R$8,000, which is around SGD $3,000, all from selling the chocolate fudge balls. With the help of his brother who pumped in some cash, Miquéias finally made it to Singapore where he was reunited with the woman of his dreams after more than one year. The couple even got married and streamed it onto Facebook. Congratulations, you guys!

Needless to say, the  story made it to Brazilian media, stealing hearts around the world.
