Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 to be completed soon
Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 structure is more than 70 percent completed for its main building. The terminal is expected to be opened as of the second half of 2017.
When the terminal opens in 2017, it will operate the AirAsia group — which includes AirAsia (Malaysia), Indonesia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia — as well as Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines and Cathay Pacific.
Terminal 4 will present passengers with an enhanced travel experience through its unique design and innovative technology.
State of the art technology
Terminal 4 will see many new innovative technologies not found in the other terminals in Singapore Changi Airport. Terminal 4 will be under a new concept of Fast And Seamless Travel at Changi (FAST@Changi).
Some of the concepts under FAST@Changi includes self-service check-in, self-bag tagging, automated baggage drop, immigration clearance and departure gates being rolled out extensively in the new building.
Facial recognition technology will also be introduced for the first time at Changi Airport, to reduce the number of security guards needed to perform manual visual checks of passengers at different checkpoints.
The integration of the biometric technology is also to provide convenience to passengers during the screening process. This new and improved technology will ultimately improve the experience of commuters.
Validation of passports and boarding passes will be scanned and verified automatically, without the use of any manpower, to ensure speedier clearances. It forms a complete suite of self-service and automation at the airport.
Beautiful never-seen-before décor
While the technology mentioned above are all excellent, let’s take a look at the interior design of the terminal. I’m quite sure that the interior will literally blow your mind away.
Let’s not forget that the Terminal 4 will be a retail haven for many out there. The space is huge and can surely satisfy your thirst for shopping.
Local culture and heritage items will be incorporated in the interior of Terminal 4. Traditional Peranakan shopfront facades will be featured in the retail space.
There will also be big open windows for natural light to brighten up the interior.
Not forgetting the relaxing green sanctuaries available. It’s like having your own little wonderland.
World best airport
From the artist’s illustration, the interior of Changi Airport Terminal 4 seems to be elegant. Knowing that Singapore will achieve the standards set by the pictures, I am sure that the Terminal 4 will be magnificent when opened to the public in 2017.
According to The Straits Times, the Terminal 4 will be able to handle up to 16 million passengers per year. The terminal is to accommodate the increasing amount of commuters travelling here.
It is unquestionable that the new technology incorporated along with the hospitable interior of the new terminal will give the passengers a great experience in the airport. Singapore has clinched the world best airport this year, no doubt.
