Experience The Ways of The Force Now At Ion Orchard

With Star Wars Day (May the 4th) long gone and the next Star Wars installment The Last Jedi still a galaxy far far away, fans of the franchise can look to immerse themselves in the Force at the Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore festival.

As part of the Star Wars Force Friday II global fan event, ION Orchard will be hosting the event.

The 10 day event, which will take place from 1 to 10 Sept, offers a slew of activities that will be conducted for the first time in Southeast Asia.

Before rushing down to join in the galactic battle between the Jedi and the Sith, here are 4 things to look out for.

1. Padawan Training

While it may be too late for adult fans to commence their Jedi training, those that have their own younglings can register them to be trained under a Jedi master.

The Padawan training is a chance for younglings aged 4 – 12 to be trained in the lethal art of lightsaber combat.

The training will take place at the Padawan training arena located at ION Orchard’s Outdoor Event Space at Level 1.

Lessons will begin at 3pm daily and younglings with the highest midi-chlorians, or register first, have priority.

Where: ION Orchard’s Outdoor Event Space, Level 1
When: 3pm – 9pm (30 minute intervals)

Here is a schedule of the timings available:

2. Explore the Millennium Falcon

If you are looking for a vehicle that can evade all those ERP gantries, speed cameras, traffic police, and still arrive at your destination at the speed of light, then check out the Millennium Falcon replica at ION Orchard’s Outdoor Event Space.

The replica, a one-sixth scale of the original Millennium Falcon, is the first of its size to be built in Southeast Asia.

The Millennium Falcon has been a reliable source of transportation and has saved the galaxy on numerous occasions.

Perhaps Minister for Transport and SMRT CEO Desmond Kuek should head on down to learn how to build a reliable mode of transport.

Where: ION Orchard’s Outdoor Event Space, Level 1
When: 10 am – 10 pm

3. Meeting BB-8 in Virtual Reality

It seems that PM Lee’s call for a Smart Nation has been heard galaxies far far away and it is little BB-8 who has answered the call.

Given the lack of technological advancement in Singapore, BB-8 has graciously opted to interact with Singaporeans via a holographic Virtual Reality interface.

The interface is designed by ILM Experience Lab (ILMxLAB) a division of Lucasfilm Ltd.

For an idea of what to expect, check out some of ILMxLAB’s works below.

Where: ION Station at Basement 4 of ION Orchard
When: 10 am – 10 pm

4. Snap A Photo With All Terrain Walkers

If the queues to the other attractions are too long, fret not. Head on out along Orchard Road and snap a picture with the All Terrain Walkers from the Star Wars franchise.

Now we all have that one girl friend who despite her short stature, loves to date tall gangly guys even though they look disproportionate in photos.

Ever wanted to know how she feels? Well snap a photo next to one of two All Terrain Walkers which towers at approximately 3.5m to find out.

All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST)

Where: Shaw House Urban Plaza
When: 10 am – 10 pm

All Terrain Armoured Cargo Transport (AT-ACT)

Where: Along Orchard Road, Outside ION Orchard
When: 10 am – 10 pm
