Will you watch television for these hot news anchors?
We all know television is a dying medium. Being the social media savvy generation, most of us consume our news online via Facebook, Twitter and other alternative news sites.
But do you know what you’re missing out on?
These 12 hot news anchors make us want to wake up early and stay glued to the news:
Tung Soo Hwa
A well-known face in the industry, and even those who do not watch the news should have heard of her name. In 1997, Tung joined MediaCorp as a news editor but became a news reporter and anchor 3 years later. She clinched the award of Best News/ Current Affairs Presenter for five consecutive years, from 2004 to 2009.
She currently hosts Money Week and Evening News on Channel 8.
She might be a face we’ve been watching on television for years, but she certainly is not showing any signs of ageing.
Here’s a picture of her au naturel:
Why is she taking selfies with her computer screen?
Zhao Quan Yin
The Communication University of China graduate joined MediaCorp in 2008 as a reporter. She then became a news anchor, presenting news for News 8 at One, Singapore Today and News Today. She currently hosts World This Week.
Apart from simply broadcasting news, Zhao also shows us how we can learn fashion even while watching the news:
Looking pretty in pink! We also get to see the different faces of Zhao, thanks to the Internet.
When she’s at work, she looks professional:
When threatening to kill you with a plastic knife, she looks adorable.
Maybe she can act in some Korean dramas if she gets tired of news presenting…
Lin Youyi/ Iriana Halim
Halim is an Indonesian Chinese who was educated in Singapore and Taiwan. She is best recognised as the news presenter of Good Morning Singapore, a news segment aired on weekday mornings. In 2012, she bagged the award of ‘Best Current Affairs Presenter’ in Star Awards.
Probably the most versatile news presenter on this list, Halim has forayed into hosting and acting. On Channel U, she hosted shows including Smart @ Work and Going Home. More recently, she appeared in Channel 8 drama serial Blessings and sitcom 118.
In fact, the multifaceted artiste has even been nominated for this year’s top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes.

Watch the three hawt news anchors sing in the annual Chinese New Year album MediaCorp releases every year:
Wang joined MediaCorp in 2005 as a Chinese news anchor and Channel NewsAsia’s Shanghai correspondent, reporting news in both English and Mandarin. She now fronts News Tonight.
One of the rare bilingual news anchors in MediaCorp, yippee!!
You can also tune in to Capital 95.8 FM’s The Single Show, which Wang co-hosts with veteran deejay Lingzhi, on Thursdays from 1 to 2pm.
The Peranakan-Chinese clinched the Best News Anchor award at 2001’s Asian Television Awards and Best Presenter at MediaCorp News Excellence Awards in 2005. The titles are indeed befitting – watch Chong in a half buttoned shirt talk about mic wires in frustration and how she calmly regained her composure after the commercial break:
In her early days, she was a cover girl of “Go” Magazine, alongside Caldecott’s queen, Zoe Tay.
While Hokkien usually sounds rude, Chong managed to make the dialect sound sexy.
Unfortunately for all of us, Chong got married to a lawyer, Justin Chan, earlier this year. =(
Chan Eu Imm
Chan joined MediaCorp in 2006 and is now the presenter of Asia Connect, as well as Channel NewsAsia’s daily news segment, News Now.
A serious woman at work is always attractive.
Seems like she gets pretty excited about food too:
But uh-oh. Even the most professional of professionals slips at times. We totally forgive her for the on-air blooper:
In 2007, after working in the media industry for 8 years, Edwards joined MediaCorp as a producer/ presenter. We’re pretty sure CNA’s viewership has increased since – who wouldn’t want to watch
her the news?
NPNT. So here it is:
She can also rock any hairstyle. Guess bad hair days don’t happen to her.
Watch as the ex-98.7FM deejay exudes her charm on-air:
Fun fact: Edwards is a track and field athlete who had won 100m and 200m crowns in the girls’ C Division for two consecutive years, from 1991 to 1992.
The veteran’s news career with Channel NewsAsia started in 1999. Looks like time has not taken its toll on the multi-award-winning host of On The Red Dot, who still looks foxy as ever.
In 2004, Fox was embroiled in controversy over drug trafficking allegations, but her name was later cleared.
Surprisingly, limited results showed up when we ran a Google search on Cheryl Fox.
Nonetheless, we managed to find an interview of her telling us all about the newly-implemented no-alcohol zones:
The University of Gloucestershire graduate worked as a presenter and broadcast journalist at ESPN before joining Channel NewsAsia in 2012.
This man of quality has a daredevil streak in him:
He would like to skydive in a flying-squirrel type of bodysuits with the belief that it’s the closest one can get to flying really fast. Wheeeee!
The sporty news anchor also likes mountain biking, as well as non-sporty stuff like film/theatre and… taking selfies.
Well, his selfie skills aren’t too shabby either.
Alexander returned to MediaCorp in 2012 and started fronting Channel NewsAsia’s weekly sports programme, SportsWorld Weekend. The Sports Desk Executive Editor began his broadcast journalism career in radio in 1990 before moving to television two years later.
The low-profile presenter seems pretty much elusive online, but don’t be disheartened. We found out that he likes to swim, cycle or go rock climbing with his family and friends. He can also be found on Twitter, where he provides frequent sports updates. But if you’re expecting selfies from the man, you’ll be disappointed.
Hazlina Abdul Halim
The television presenter, radio announcer, news reader and journalist is effectively multilingual and can speak English, Bahasa Melayu, and Mandarin. Hazlina kickstarted her media career with a Ria 89.7FM internship. In 2005, she started presenting Berita, Suria’s news aired during prime-time. She now lectures at Temasek Polytechnic but continues to front Berita.
When off work, she looks like a model even while posing with food.
Of course, who can forget the most bimbotic news anchor who makes news more entertaining with her antics? She certainly lives up to her namesake – WOW!
Hot-O-meter: Looks without the brains?
