Man arrested for inciting violence in his Facebook comments

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after he posted the following comments on Facebook inciting others to commit violence in connection with the Benjamin Lim case.

The Chinese man made a post on Facebook in response to a news article about the death of the 14-year-old school boy. In his post, he also said “Please reveal the identity of the 5 plain clothes officers and we go handle them ourselves. Kill them.”.


The police said it received a report on 8 Feb last month and arrested the suspect on Wednesday for the offence of Communicating an Electronic Record Containing Incitements to Violence. The offence carries a maximum jail term of five years, or fine, or both.
