Remember when McDonald’s released their Nasi Lemak burger not long ago and everyone went crazy over how creative it was?

Well, just when you thought food couldn’t get more any more interesting than that, Old Chang Kee proves us all wrong by unveiling their latest creation — the Nasi Lemak Curry Puff.

In case you’re wondering how it’s possible, the ingredients are exactly what you expect from the classic nasi lemak — minus the rice that is.

So forget the chocolate pie, that’s yesterday’s news. Could this green pastry be the new talk of the town?

Nasi Lemak Chicken’O

On Thursday (1 Mar), Old Chang Kee launched their version of a nasi lemak-inspired snack — aptly named the Nasi Lemak Chicken’O.

Encased by a green pastry crust, the curry puff comes willing the following:

  • Chicken chunks
  • Onions
  • Hard-boiled Egg
  • Ikan billis
  • Peanuts

To top it all of, they’re slathered with generous amounts of sambal chili to give you that signature nasi lemak kick you never knew you needed.

Unfortunately, according to 8Days, Old Chang Kee confirmed that the crust contains no traces of coconut. Instead, the green is a result of a mixture of food colouring and pandan essence.
