PM Lee is completely chill about not being recognized

ASEAN leaders are currently in Malaysia for the 26th ASEAN summit, where deals will be made, treaties signed, and traditional musical performances applauded.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong found some time to speak to a performer while waiting for a meeting to commence, and the conversation was a largely awkward one. In fact, the encounter was so memorable, PM Lee just had to post it on Facebook.

Met this saxophonist entertaining the ASEAN leaders while we were waiting to start the meeting. He looked good, and sounded good. So I snapped his pic and chatted. Our conversation:

“Where are you from?”
“Singapore. Where are you from?”
“Sabah.”

Netizen’s apology garners avalanche of likes

Facebook user Jullie Lim was one of the first people to comment on the PM’s post, apologising for her countryman’s ignorance. Turns out PM Lee had some spare time on his hands, and personally replied to that comment.
