Sentosa Beaches Most Disappointing Place To Visit
An article published on Business Insider collated responses from a thread on Reddit, asking users to state the most disappointing travel destination they have ever visited. And surprise surprise, the beaches in Sentosa received the unglamorous distinction of being in 11th place on the list!
The user has even given sci-fi writers the world over a location for their new apocalyptic novel:
“… and then you look out to the ocean and all you see is oil tankers and factories spewing smoke on the horizon. It was like some sort of futuristic dystopia.”
However, we believe that the Sentosa beaches are getting the short end of the stick. Our beaches on the “island of death behind” aren’t really that bad after all. In fact, here are five reasons why:
1. Pretend You’re A Celebrity For A Day!
If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a celebrity, just wear a bikini and head over to Siloso Beach.
2. Go Ship-Seeing!
If you are a fan of watching oil tankers, you are in luck! Marvel as these massive ships go about their business while you lounge on the beach. If you’re in the mood, jump in the water just a few hundred metres from where these ships offload their waste.
3. Have A Beach Volleyball High-5 Your Face
Like to high-5? Try it while sun-tanning on a Sentosa beach. Don’t take it out on the beach volleyballers though.
4. Snorkel Under Water
As a result of rampant pollution near its waters by both our favourite oil tankers and beach-goers, the waters are gorgeous – gorgeously murky, that is. If you are dreading booking-in or going to work or school the next day, you may wish to take a dive into the gorgeously murky Sentosa waters. (Note: MSN takes no responsibility for any MCs incurred as a result)
5. The “Southernmost” Point of Continental Asia
The “southernmost point of Continental Asia”? I don’t think so.
According to the Sentosa website, it promises an “unique setting for special occasions and unforgettable encounters”, but there’s really very little to see or do. You’d probably have more fun having mock sword-fights on the suspension bridge.
Another idea for the dytopic sci-fi writers!
Sentosa sure is an amazing beach!
