The Government really really really wants us to stay in Singapore

The coming National Day (9 August) will mark Singapore’s 50th year as an independent sovereign state. The Singapore Government is going all out in keeping Singaporeans in Singapore to commemorate Singapore’s jubilee by offering us tasty treats.

Apart from celebrating the nation’s 50th birthday, attractions around Singapore will be offering a numerous promotions to keep us entertain over the Golden Jubilee weekend!

1. Sentosa

Fort Siloso

Date: 15 July – 10 August

Venue: Sentosa, Siloso Beach

Why stop at the Sands of Time at Siloso beach? Walk to the Fort Siloso for a free guided tour! There is no better time to learning the history of Singapore than on Singapore’s 50th year of independence.

You will get to explore the grounds of the Fort and learn the history behind the Fort during the free 90 minutes tour.

The Wings of Time is an mysterious tale that about bravery and magic. The platform of the show is the open sea with backdrop of water screens.

Singapore Merlion @ Sentosa

Date: 8 August

Venue: Sentosa, Imbiah Lookout

The legendary Singapore icon, Merlion, the half-fish and half-lion will be open to free exploration to the public on 8 August.

Visit 37-metre tall statue of the legendary creature that has been guarding Singapore since the beginning of time.

2. Singapore Science Centre

Date: 7 – 10 August

When was the last time you visited the Singapore Science Centre? Unless you work there, or are a parent with young kids, your answer is most probably “a really really long time ago”.

3. Singapore Botanic Gardens
