With the help of more than 200 officers, Mr Ng Kang Leng was rescued from the Central Catchment Nature Reserve

While the rest of the island is infected with election fever, Mr Ng Kang Leng decided on Saturday (6 Sept) to take a break from all the madness, and trek from Dairy Farm Road to MacRitchie Reservoir.

The trek would have taken just under 2 hours.

Mr Ng emerged 2 days later Singapore’s version of Bear Grylls.

After painstakingly combing the reserve for almost 45 hours, Mr Ng was eventually found on Monday afternoon (7 Sept).

According to Channel NewsAsia (CNA), more than 200 officers were involved in the rescue mission from National Parks Board (NPB), Public Utilities Board (PUB), and the Police Department.

The officers searched through the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve over the weekend and eventually found Mr Ng around Upper Pierce Reservoir around 3.40pm.

As a passionate hiker and volunteer to several of the nature groups around the parks, Mr Ng is no stranger to nature. Despite being a friend of the woods, Mr Ng lost his way on the same day of his hike and called the police just before 7 pm.

According to the police, it was hard for Mr Ng to provide specific details regarding his whereabouts because he had ventured into a new route.

Mr Ng was brought into Ng Teng Fong Hospital for a mandatory physical examination and reunited with his family soon after.
