Fatal accident on the train tracks near Pasir Ris station
[UPDATE @ 3.06pm: The two victims were identified as 24-year-old Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari and 26-year-old Nasrulhudin Najumudin. Both were said to be undergoing on the job training.]
Two SMRT maintenance staff were killed in an accident along the train track near Pasir Ris MRT station this morning (22 Mar).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the accident at 11.11am and dispatched a fire engine, two fire bikes, a red rhino, two ambulances and three support vehicles.
Tragically, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Services between Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris MRT stations temporarily disrupted
Train services along the East-West Line were also disrupted. SMRT announced on Twitter that there would be no train services between Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris in both directions until about 12.45pm.

Pasir Ris train station has also been closed off.

The train service provider later updated that free shuttle bus services were also available to ferry affected passengers.
