Brilliantly Executed Advertisement

Somebody’s gone and created a “Thank You Indonesia For The Clean Air” website, which has gone viral in just a couple of hours.

Yes, the entire function of the website seems to allow visitors to repeatedly click on a red button — with a creepy male voice saying “thanks” at each press.

Indonesian Vice-President Jusuf Kalla is the guest-of-honour here, thanking users with various reaction speech bubbles. To add to the comical feel of the website, the designer went with a decidedly 1998 cutting-edge Geocities-inspired feel.

Oh and Comic Sans for the font…

For those who are feeling a tad bit more grateful, there’s a section in the website to write personalized thank-you notes to Indonesia, for the 11 wonderful months of picture perfect oxygen supply.

But here’s what you didn’t know about the website.

You should be reacting like the guy in the gif as about…NOW.

Most people scroll straight down to the red button page on the site, almost on instinct.

What everybody failed to notice was the gigantic yellow banner telling people to get their N95 masks, at the top of the page.

The banner, when clicked, directs you to the Amazon page for N95 masks.

It should look something like this:

And if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page (yes that very insignificant spot), you should see this:Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.38.34

There you have it.

The main piece of evidence to prove that the website is indeed a gigantic advertisement.

It’s not surprising that people didn’t see this important piece of information. The colours they used throughout the website were pretty jarring to the eyes — we’re guessing not many people stayed on the site long enough. Pretty sure they designed the site this way on purpose.

Smart people.

But guess what, we outsmarted them :’)

Daz right. We cracked the code.
