A 17-year-old teenager in Thailand has been arrested after fatally shooting a 41-year-old man in what police describe as a crime triggered by family tensions.
The teenager confessed to the crime, stating that the victim was the source of his parents’ constant arguments, which led to his own emotional distress.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (4 Feb) at 1.20pm in the Rangsit Subdistrict, Pathum Thani Province.
The victim was riding his motorcycle when the teenager followed him on a separate motorcycle.
That’s when the teenager pulled up alongside the victim and fired a single shot in the back of his head.

The victim, later identified as a store manager named Mr Paisarn (name transliterated from Thai), fell from his motorcycle and was found lying on the roadside.
A bag of groceries and two cans of alcoholic beverages were also found near his vehicle.
Witnesses at the scene saw the suspect immediately fleeing after the shooting.
Police launched an investigation, and the suspect was identified and arrested at his home as he was preparing to escape.
Officers discovered that the teenager had used a homemade pen gun to carry out the murder.
The teenager, Man (name transliterated from Thai), admitted to the crime after his arrest.
He explained that his parents had ongoing conflicts with Mr Paisarn, which also led to frequent arguments in the household.
He also claimed that the victim would often hurl offensive words at his parents.
The disputes caused him significant emotional stress, prompting him to take violent action.

The teenager further expressed that he felt suffocated by the family’s tension and wrote a letter to express his feelings before carrying out the shooting.
The village headman where the incident occurred recounted that Mr Paisarn lived in the area and once approached him for advice, according to Thairath.
Mr Paisarn told him that he had been accused of an affair with the suspect’s mother. However, he denied the accusations.
This situation led to daily arguments between the couple, and the suspect’s father believed it caused his son to become stressed and vengeful.
The suspect’s mother told Thai news program Hone Krasae: “If possible, I would take the blame and go to prison instead of my son. He has a bright future ahead of him, while I don’t have much time left.”
Police said they are continuing investigations and have seized the firearm used in the incident.
