A seven-year-old boy was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle with his 10-year-old brother controlling the vehicle when an accident happened.
The latter’s schoolmate also rode as a passenger.
The incident occurred on 17 Oct at 3.30pm in Baling, Malaysia.
The accident happened when a van collided with the side of the motorcycle at a junction. The seven-year-old and his brother’s schoolmate, both riding pillion, were pinned under the van’s wheels.
Meanwhile, the impact flung the 10-year-old brother into a drain, causing neck and body injuries.
His friend suffered a broken leg while the seven-year-old boy died at the scene from severe head injuries.
None of the three boys wore helmets.
The van driver also sustained cuts to his arm and leg, while his passengers escaped unharmed.
Paramedics conveyed the two injured boys to the hospital.
Preliminary investigations pointed to the cause being negligence on the 10-year-old rider’s part when turning at the junction.
