An accident involving four cars along Alexandra Road resulted in two people being taken to hospital.
Photos being circulated of the aftermath showed that one of the cars ended up falling into the carpark of Queensway Shopping Centre.
Other photos showed a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicle and several SCDF officers at the scene.
A number of onlookers also stopped to gawk at the sight of the blue car, which had plunged bonnet-first into the basement carpark.
The car also knocked a gap in a metal railing by the sidewalk.
The Land Transport Authority’s (LTA’s) traffic news account on X posted at 4.36pm on Saturday (7 Dec) that the accident occurred along Alexandra Road, in the direction towards Jalan Bukit Merah.
Motorists were advised to avoid the left lane after Bukit Merah Lane 1.
Workers arrived to remove the car only at about 8pm, reported The Straits Times. The process took about 15 minutes.
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to an accident at about 4.20pm on Saturday.
It took place along Alexandra Road towards Ganges Avenue and involved four cars.
Besides the blue car, 8world News said video footage provided by witnesses showed a white car with a damaged rear and a black car at the scene of the accident.
After the accident, two women were conveyed to the hospital in a conscious state.
One was a 61-year-old driver and the other was her 91-year-old passenger.
SCDF, which was alerted at about 4.25pm, told MS News that they were sent to the National University Hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
