The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) performed a rescue operation with a helicopter on the evening of 9 Nov.
In a Facebook post, the RSAF said a RESCUE10 Medium Lift Helicopter was activated and flew to a bulk carrier, a type of merchant ship.
There, the helicopter crew evacuated a crewman with “urgent medical needs”.
The post’s video showed the white and red helicopter landing back on Singapore soil.
Once they had touched down, the crew carried the victim out on a stretcher before passing them on to medical staff.
The staff and helicopter crew loaded the crewman onto a wheeled stretcher together.
The medical staff then transported them to a waiting ambulance to go to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
As the ambulance left, the RESCUE10 helicopter took off once more.
The RSAF Facebook page extended thanks to both the SGH medical team and the helicopter duty personnel for their “professionalism and commitment to saving lives”.
They also wished a quick and full recovery for the affected ship crewman.
MS News has reached out to MINDEF for their comments on the incident.
