Following the outbreak of Covid-19, Singaporeans are banding together to show their love for our frontline workers.
Despite experiencing slow business, local eateries are volunteering their services to ensure our healthcare workers are healthy and full.
From white beehoon to seafood bento sets, frontline Alexandra Hospital staff were well-pampered with delicacies lined up for them during their shift.
This generosity showed cheers on our healthcare workers, fuelling them for the battle against Covid-19.
Around 80 frontline workers in Alexandra Hospital are now on duty round the clock in the 24-hour Urgent Care Centre.
To show their support to these unsung heroes, our local eateries are sending over nutritional and filling meals to the hospital.
This includes Hai Sia Seafood that prepared a delicious spread of dishes, assembling them to form a healthy bento lunch.
The White Restaurant also sent over their signature Sembawang White Beehoon to cheer on Alexandra Hospital staff.
Furthermore, the 80 medical staff also enjoyed a Bluepea Lemon Pandan gelato, crafted by Carrara Café.
Due to the virus outbreak in Singapore, local eateries are suffering a loss in customers.
White Restaurant’s outlet in Jewel Changi is particularly affected by the dwindling crowds in the airport mall.
Despite so, the owner Mr Sam Lim did not hesitate to reach out to hospitals, after seeing instances of healthcare workers being ostracised in public.
Similarly, Carrara Café is also receiving fewer orders and walk-in customers at his Bukit Merah store.
Alexandra Hospital staff is said to have visited the store often as it is located mere minutes away from the facility.
Hence, the owner wanted to surprise his regulars with a nice gesture and encourage Singaporeans to remain united in the face of Covid-19.
With the overwhelming love and support pouring in in the form of food, the frontline workers are extremely grateful towards the local eateries.
An assistant nurse clinician, M Li, reveals that “work is busier than usual but spirits are high”, due to the concern and support shown.
Chief Operating Officer Ms Chiang expresses that the team is inspired by these kind actions. She promises to continue doing her very best for the patients.
Hai Sia Seafood left a heartwarming note for the hospital staff, capturing the message that all Singaporeans want to tell our healthcare heroes.
Thank you for doing what you do….To care for those under your charge is to care for us all. The time we have robbed away from you and your loved ones has kept us all safe. This is our little effort to take care of you.
It is in these little gestures our healthcare workers find the strength to carry on.
Despite the predicament they are in, local food stores remain convicted to the cause of supporting hospital staff.
As Singaporeans from all walks of life join in the fight against Covid-19, it gives us hope that we will overcome Covid-19 very soon.
