Minister of State Alvin Tan has warned that stricter action will be taken against repeat littering offenders.
In a Facebook post on Sunday (29 March), he shared a video of a Corrective Work Order (CWO) operation at Tekka.
“If you litter, we will catch you and you will clean up,” Mr Tan said.

In the video, Mr Tan said officers were overseeing enforcement efforts on the ground at Tekka. He said that repeat offenders were made to clean public spaces.
“They have to clean up and pick litter in bright vests in full view of the public,” he emphasised in the video.

Mr Tan stressed that offenders must take responsibility for their actions.
“They’ve dirtied our public spaces and must be taught a lesson.”
He said the Government has already deployed more bins and cleaners, but emphasised that public cooperation remains key.
Mr Tan said he has instructed the National Environment Agency (NEA) to step up enforcement.
“For repeat litterbugs, I’ve instructed NEA to go hard.”

Mr Tan noted that the public cannot simply “put the burden on our cleaners”.
“If you litter, we will catch you, and you will clean up,” he said.
Mr Tan also noted in his Facebook post caption that more enforcement efforts are planned.
