Yesterday (27 Oct), was a tragic day. 2 supposed murders, claiming a total of 3 lives, happened within the span of a single day. The first occurred in an Ang Mo Kio flat and the other in a Commonwealth flat.
In the first case, reported by TODAY, a 63-year-old man was found dead. The murder suspect is a 54-year-old woman believed to be his partner.
In the second case, reported by The Straits Times, 2 women, aged 56 and 90, were reportedly attacked in their Commonwealth flat.
On Sunday morning, according to reports, some residents of Block 633, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, heard noises coming from a neighbouring unit.
About one and a half hours later, the police arrived and escorted a woman out in handcuffs. The police also found the body of man in the unit.
The police have classified the case as murder and will continue to investigate the matter.
According to neighbours whom the reporters interviewed, the woman and deceased man were a couple. They were often seen together with a young child.
TODAY also reported that the woman is about 10 years younger and larger in size than the man. She supposedly stands around 1.7m to 1.75m tall.
She will be charged with murder on Monday (28 Oct).
That same night, another murder took place, this time in a flat at 7A Commonwealth Avenue.
According to The Straits Times’ report, the incident took place at around 7.30pm.
Neighbours told reporters that they had heard a commotion coming from the ground floor of their block. The 22-year-old suspect had apparently gotten into a fight with members of the public, after which they subdued him.
It later transpired that before the commotion, the suspect had barged into a unit belonging to 2 women believed to be his mother and grandmother. The 2 women were found dead by officers who arrived at the scene later.
The suspect was trying to flee the area when he ran into a group of people headed for prayers nearby. For some reason, he started attacking them. Some members of the group told reporters that they noticed blood on his hands.
The group eventually subdued him and kept him down till the police arrived.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
MS News extends our condolences to the family and friends of the victims.
Hopefully, the police will get to the bottom of both cases soon.
