Birth certificate of baby born on M’sian highway lists ‘in a car’ as place of birth

Woman shares ‘special’ birth certificate after giving birth in car

A birth certificate is an important document that officially records the birth of a person.

Depending on the country’s jurisdiction, it may or may not include confirmation of the event by a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or nurse.

However, one Malaysian woman recently raised eyebrows when she shared the unique place of birth for her newborn.

Gave birth in car

TikTok user @syahirahsidik recently shared a cropped photo of her newborn’s birth certificate, and one detail stood out.

Since she had given birth in a car in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur, the birth certificate lists the place of birth as “in a car at the Plaza Duta Link (DUKE) Toll”.

The unusual record quickly gained attention on social media, with the post garnering 1 million views and over 38,000 likes.

She also shared a follow-up TikTok video, providing more context and showing the vehicle where the delivery took place.

The two posts offered a fascinating look into the extraordinary circumstances surrounding her baby’s birth.

The video includes a nurse standing beside the car, seemingly assessing the situation, highlighting the swift response and adaptability of medical personnel during this unexpected delivery.

Netizens have a good laugh

Ms Syahirah’s two TikTok posts sparked a flurry of comments from amused netizens.

One user joked that the child could claim ownership of the road, while another quipped that the baby might enjoy a lifetime of free toll passes.

This references other instances where babies born on airplanes have reportedly been given free flights for life.

Regardless of whether the child will have to pay tolls in the future, one thing is certain: this baby has earned bragging rights for having such a unique place of birth.
