S’poreans Must Wear Masks To Enter All Banks Islandwide, Effective Immediately

Singapore Banks Also Implemented Safe-Distancing Measures To Keep Customers Apart

In order to minimise the risk of Covid-19 infections in shopping malls, the Singapore government announced on Saturday (11 Apr) that all shoppers would have to don masks in order to enter supermarkets.

On Tuesday (14 Apr), more of such measures were announced. Effective immediately, all Singaporeans would have to put on face masks in order to enter bank branches islandwide.

Singaporeans required to wear masks at banks to protect customers and staff

According to The Straits Times (ST), the new measure announced by The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) aims to protect both the well-being of customers and staff.

During these trying times, ABS urges customers to carry out their bank transactions online and to avoid visiting physical branches.

Apart from the new requirement, banks had also implemented other “crowd control measures” to ensure customers are maintaining a safe distance from one another, reports ST.

Additionally, customers are also encouraged to wear face masks when queueing up or using ATMs.

An inconvenient but necessary measure amid Covid-19 outbreak

While the new requirement would definitely bring about some level of inconvenience for Singaporeans visiting banks, we hope they understand that these were ultimately implemented for the good of all stakeholders.

Better still, let’s avoid leaving home during the ‘Circuit Breaker’ and carry out our bank transactions online. That way, we can minimise the risk of getting infected and help control the outbreak.
