Update (3 Jun): Fengshan Member of Parliament (MP) Cheryl Chan shared that the Bedok 85 Market will be reopening on 17 Jun. This came after renovations works at the popular market and food centre were allowed to resume.
The renovation was initially expected to be completed on 17 Apr but was delayed due to the ‘Circuit Breaker’.
Ms Chan also urged visitors to abide by safety measures that will be implemented at the market once it reopens, which includes the introduction of the Safe Entry system.

Known for its delicious bak chor mee, sambal stingray, and ah balling, Fengshan Market – aka Bedok 85 – is arguably one of the most popular supper spots among Easties.
If Bedok 85 is your go-to spot for supper, here’s a PSA that you might want to take note of.
Starting 10 Feb, the market cum wet market will be closed for a 2-month renovation, so we advise heading down for a bowl of piping hot bowl of BCM before its impending closure.
According to a post on East Coast-Fengshan Town Council’s Facebook page, the market will undergo “repairs & redecoration” works from 10 Feb to 17 Apr.
The works will hopefully revitalise the market, and bring “a more pleasant dining experience” for visitors.
They, however, did not mention the extent of the revitalisation, and whether new stalls will be available when it reopens.
The market last underwent a major renovation in 2012. It was closed for a little more than a year. A temporary market was set up next to it which allowed visitors to patronise their favourite hawker stalls.
Bedok 85 Market wouldn’t be a foreign place for most Singapore foodies.
From ah balling to ngor hiang to satay bee hoon, the market is home to every Singaporean hawker dish you can imagine.
Many of the stalls there open till late too, which explains the market’s popularity among supper-goers.
With the impending closure, we advise making one last trip down before the renovation starts.
Here’s a curated list of food to try, courtesy of our food-loving colleagues, if it’s your first time there.
