On Sunday (31 Dec), the body of an 85-year-old man was found floating in a Clementi canal.
Upon arriving at the scene, medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Police have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the body was discovered at around 10.20am in a canal near Clementi Avenue 6.
A reader told the Chinese daily that he passed by the area at about 11am and noticed police blocking the area on the other side of the canal.
When reporters went to check out the scene, they saw a body covered with a white cloth next to the canal.
At about 1pm, two women believed to be family members of the deceased arrived.
They reportedly burst into tears after identifying the body, which was later taken away in a black vehicle.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, police confirmed that authorities retrieved the body of an 85-year-old man from the canal.
Medical personnel then pronounced him dead on the spot.
It is unclear how he fell in.
Investigations into the case are still ongoing, with preliminary findings ruling out foul play.
