Century Square removes Christmas attraction after boy injures finger

A boy allegedly injured and lost part of his finger after touching a Christmas installation at Century Square.

The incident happened at about 3.30pm on Monday (9 Dec) — the boy was subsequently conveyed to a hospital.

The festive installation has been removed for safety reasons.

Boy allegedly injures fingers in igloo installation

Eyewitnesses told 8world News that the child was believed to have screamed after touching the display while playing in ‘Merry Magical Igloo’ — a Christmas display at Century Square.

The child’s fingers were reportedly covered in blood and he was believed to have lost part of his finger.

When a ChannelNews Asia (CNA) reporter arrived at Century Square in the evening, the igloo was being dismantled.

The ‘Merry Magical Igloo’ was supposed to run from 9 to 15 Dec at level one of Century Square.

Visitors can get a pass for two to the igloo with a minimum spend of S$50. Once in the igloo, participants have to find all 10 hidden gingerbread men within two minutes to receive prizes including retail and dining vouchers.

Igloo removed for precaution

On Monday (9 Dec) evening, Century Square provided an update on their social media accounts, saying the igloo will be closed until further notice.

Responding to MS News queries, a Century Square spokesperson said the installation was removed as a “precautionary measure”.

SCDF said the child was conveyed to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The extent and cause of the child’s injuries remain unclear.
