It’s hard to earn a living in this world, and some people work long hours just to make ends meet.
While many youngsters are lucky enough to spend their after-school hours socialising with friends, going out with family or playing on their mobile devices, a netizen in Malaysia has chanced upon a boy who seems to have a hard life. He appeared to be taking a nap at a petrol station in Johor Baru (JB) last Saturday (7 Mar).
The netizen later shared her encounter on Facebook, in a post that has gone viral with 7,100 shares.
Here’s a translation of the post:
Peace be upon you guys. Today I stopped at the Petronas station at Jalan Tampoi before heading to Angsana.
This young boy sells boiled peanuts, his basket is still full… he’s sleeping near the entrance of the station… maybe he’s tired and it was raining heavily in this area, now it’s drizzling… so pitiful, maybe he’s tired… I was shocked after he woke up and went back to sleep again.
Let’s go support and buy his products… I already bought… Just look at it.
Everyone, if you’re stopping here for petrol please buy, consider it as giving alms. Remember in our fortune there is also fortune for others… Wishing everyone who reads my status will be blessed in this world and hereafter.
The young boy, who was sitting near the entrance of the Petronas station, sells packets of boiled peanuts, presumably to the motorists who stop by for petrol.
However, when the netizen saw him, he had fallen asleep by the entrance of the petrol station while it was raining.
Even so, he kept his arm over his basket while sleeping
For more background, the netizen says he once bought peanuts from the boy.
I bought peanuts from this boy before, one bag looks like a small amount but when you eat it, it’s delicious and not out of proportion, enough to fill a plate. He said he comes from Ulu Tiram, after school he takes the bus without having a meal. I asked him why he doesn’t eat the peanuts but he just sMiled. I don’t know why, but maybe he wants to sell it all before he goes home.
According to the netizen, the boy said he does not live in the area and takes a bus from Ulu Tiram to get to the station.
On top of that, he starts selling the peanuts once he ends school and even skips meals to do so.
While we don’t know much about his circumstances, it is admirable that he is putting in this effort to earn an income.
Kudos to the boy for his hard work!
If you are in the area and would like to help, here’s the location of the station:
