Earlier this year, boba fans were ecstatic when they learnt about Xiao Mei (小美)’s brown sugar milk ice cream with pearls arriving on our shores.
Fast forward 5 months, and boba fans in Singapore now have another icy brown sugar dessert to look forward to.
Recently, NTUC FairPrice Finest started importing brown sugar boba ice cream bar from another Taiwan brand, Ah Qi Nong (阿奇侬).
They’re now available in boxes of 4 at $12.90 each.
These brown sugar boba ice cream bars come in a brownish-black box that bears resemblance to brown sugar syrup.
According to one Taiwanese reviewer, the aroma from the brown sugar syrup instantly hits you the moment you open the wrapper.
The ice cream bars themselves look like a frozen version of a cup of brown sugar milk tea, with patches of brown syrup all over, guaranteeing you a taste of that caramelised taste with every bite.
There are also quite a generous amount of tapioca pearls in the ice cream bars that remain chewy despite them living in a freezer for 99% of their life.
Each ice cream bar comes individually packed, so you don’t have to rush through the bars of ice cream at one go.
These brown sugar boba ice cream bars are available at Fairprice Finest outlets.
A box of 4 will set you back $12.90, which converts to around $3.30 per bar. That’s slightly more expensive than Xiao Mei’s version but probably cheaper than your average cup of brown sugar milk tea.
If you’re planning on copping a box, here’s a comprehensive list of NTUC Fairprice Finest outlets.
Given the hype surrounding all things brown sugar, this one may just be wiped off shelves in no time. So hurry if you plan on getting them.
