S’pore Bubble Tea Stalls Will Close Till 1 Jun Under Tightened ‘Circuit Breaker’ Measures

Beverage, Snack & Dessert Shops Affected By Extended ‘Circuit Breaker’

On Tuesday (21 Apr), PM Lee announced that the ‘Circuit Breaker’ will be extended for an additional 4 weeks until 1 Jun.

A list of essential F&B services that will remain open has just been published on the Covid.GoBusiness website set up by the government.

Unfortunately, it looks like our favourite bubble tea shops won’t make the cut under stricter measures. This is because they’ll fall under shops that sell “predominantly beverages”.

Here’s a screenshot of the F&B options that will remain open, and their exceptions. We summarise them below.

During this time, more companies that are not deemed essential will also be closed.

Beverages, desserts & snacks stalls will close

According to the website, these F&B businesses will be closed under new Circuit Breaker measures.

Beverages & Snacks

  • Shops selling predominantly beverages
    • Packaged snacks
    • Confectionery & dessert stores
    • F&B outlets in parks*

*Except on Pulau Ubin.

Food Manufacturing

  • Chocolate & chocolate product manufacturers
  • Chips, crackers & titbit manufacturers
  • Coffee seed processing
  • Ice cream manufacturers
  • Cocoa & chocolate powder from beans
  • Non-chocolate confectionery

Since beverage stalls are probably facing imminent closure, this may affect our bubble tea outlets & coffee chains.

However, we’ll update this article accordingly as more details are released about which brands are specifically affected.

These are the stores & businesses that will remain open as they are deemed ‘essential’ services:
