Residents at a Bukit Batok HDB block are facing a litterbug problem as a group would repeatedly leave their beer bottles and trash in the void deck.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the incidents occurred at Block 460B Bukit Batok West Avenue 9, having begun in 2024.
60-year-old resident Mr Lin (transliterated) said that a group would often gather at the void deck to drink alcohol and chat.
They reportedly talked and laughed loudly late into the night, affecting residents trying to go to sleep. Furthermore, they left trash like bottles and food packaging behind.
A Shin Min journalist visiting the scene found the table and chairs at the void deck covered in litter.

The group had seemingly left a nearly-finished bottle of alcohol on the table, alongside some cups and a plastic bag.
Around the table lay a Coke bottle and more plastic bags.
Additionally, the group allegedly scattered their used cigarette butts on the floor around this table and others at the void deck.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) put up a notice at the HDB block warning people not to litter or face enforcement actions.
Chua Chu Kang Town Council has also placed their own notice at Block 460B, stating that it received feedback about the frequent littering issue.

It noted that this could attract pests and warned that violators would face punishment
The notice stated that first-time offenders had to pay a fine of up to S$1,000. Repeat offenders can be subject to a Corrective Work Order (CWO).
In a reply to MS News, the Town Council said it had referred the matter to NEA and the police for enforcement action.
