Flyer Allegedly Leaves Marks On Several Cars’ Paintwork, S’pore Man Lodges Police Report

Flyer From Car Workshop Allegedly Leaves Marks On Several Vehicles

When companies try to market themselves, they might place flyers at obvious places to attract attention.

Unfortunately, not doing so properly can draw the ire of members of the public. A company was called out by a man on Facebook yesterday (22 Sep) after their flyers allegedly left marks on his car.

The man was unhappy as his car had just gotten a fresh coat of paint. Furthermore, other vehicles nearby were allegedly also affected by it.

He contacted the number of a woman named Kate on the flyer, who apparently said that they will not compensate him, but recommend a place for repairs instead.

The man has since lodged a police report as he felt something was amiss.

Flyer leaves marks on man’s car

A man’s car was allegedly damaged after a marketing flyer was placed on it on Tuesday (21 Sep).

Apparently, when he was about to drive out, he saw a flyer stuck on his car which had been newly painted on 19 Sep.

Unfortunately, the plastic part of the flyer had melted and gotten stuck on the paintwork.

Though the man tried to remove it with water, he claimed that the mark did not come out.

He added that staff at the car coating shop he went to would have to redo the panel at a small cost.

Upset, he immediately contacted one of the numbers on the flyer, hoping to get in touch with the car company.

Flyer allegedly leaves marks on several cars

The person using the number, belonging to someone named Kate as stated on the flyer, responded to the man’s messages.

Rather than offering compensation, she instructed the man to bring his car for repairs at a shop at Turf City, where they could apparently restore it to its original condition in 10 minutes.

While she seemed insistent that he did so, it’s unclear whether her company offered to cover the costs.

The man also noticed that the flyer had left marks on his neighbours’ cars nearby, which only upset him more.

He thus decided to post about his situation on Facebook to seek advice from other people.

Netizens give advice to man

Upon posting, many netizens have advised the man to report it to the police.

They warned him not to go to the workshop in case it was a scam.

One mentioned that whether it was a scam or not, the company should still compensate for the damages.

However, some also asked the man to try removing it on his own first.

After reading all the comments, the man decided to go ahead with the police report. He did not want to take the risk of going to the recommended workshop as he did not trust them.

MS News has reached out to the car company for comments and will update the article accordingly when they get back.

Hope the police will investigate

Hopefully, with a police report made, the man will be able to get the closure needed for this incident.

As for companies who might use such marketing tactics, perhaps it is time to think of another less damaging way.
