As the Covid-19 situation worsens in Singapore, many are struggling to stay afloat with some getting their salaries cut. Some even lost their jobs.
Yet during these tough times, companies like Citi Singapore continue to ensure that their employees are well-taken care of.
The bank recently handed out $1,200 to over 1,600 employees and covered their insurance during these turbulent times.
According to The Business Times, the finance company is offering the one-time sum to staff who have an annual base salary of $70,000 or less.
Around 1,600 employees will get the additional funds on top of their April paychecks.
The generous move is part of a by Citibank’s “global initiative”. The move in Singapore alone will reportedly cost the company $2 million, reports The Business Times.
In light of the outbreak, Citi Singapore will also provide their staff with free AIA insurance coverage.
Additionally, employees will pay less when they seek medical consultation with Whitecoat, a digital healthcare provider, reports The Business Times.
All the new measures put in place to help Citi employees sound almost too good to be true.
We are heartened that the finance company is helping to ensure their workers are sufficiently prepared to face the outbreak.
Though the times ahead are extremely uncertain, we hope businesses will also look out for their employees just like Citi did for their staff.
