Snacks like pineapple tarts and hae bee hiam rolls are arguably the things we look forward to every Chinese New Year (CNY).
If you happen to have an abundance of CNY snacks and are struggling to finish them, this initiative lets you do good while clearing the countless bottles of kuehs lying around the house.
From now till 28 Feb, welfare group ItsRainingRaincoats will be accepting CNY snacks which they’ll be donating to migrant workers in Singapore.
Since 14 Jan, ItsRainingRaincoats has been collecting CNY goodies as part of their “Share the Abundance” initiative.
According to their page, the snacks will be distributed to workers at worksites, construction areas, and dormitories.

Though they didn’t specify any particular CNY snacks, they’ll only donate those that are unopened and unexpired.
The collection drive will end in about 2 weeks’ time on 28 Feb.

Those thinking of donating their snacks can find out which volunteer they stay nearest to and arrange for a drop-off via WhatsApp or SMS. The volunteers’ contact details can be found here.
If you happen to have extra CNY snacks lying around the house and don’t want them to go to waste, consider donating them to our migrant workers.
Not only will you be saving perfectly good food, but your donations might help raise the morale of the migrant workers here who may have been away from their families for a very long time.

Let’s put a smile on their faces, and show them our appreciation for their hard work.
