Mention a 20-year-old HDB flat and the first image that comes to mind is probably an obiang space, cluttered with miscellaneous objects.
Well, not this one that you’re about to see.
Located in Compassvale in Sengkang, this 5-room resale flat has recently undergone a $145,000 revamp.
It now looks sleek AF, complete with a bespoke glass study and hotel-like bathrooms.
The project was a collaboration between 2 local interior planners — 19EightyThree and Bowerman.
Take a step into the abode and you’ll instantly be greeted by the spacious, bright living room.
We’re sure this would instantly make anyone feel like they’ve retreated to a villa, given its oceanic colours.
To avoid making the house look overly-clinical, the designers have also added complementing decorations like this blue rug with geometric lines that resemble diamond cut-outs.
The living room also has huge wooden wardrobes and round metal handles that add to the flat’s grandeur.
Right in the middle of the living room is a study partitioned by huge panels of glass. It looks perfect for work or even holding conference calls.
Here’s a look at the study from another angle.
According to Qanvast, the space was once empty but was transformed into a study as the owners wanted a private space for business calls.
With such an aesthetic-looking study and living room, it is only natural for one to expect the same of the bedrooms.
The master bedroom, decorated in light grey, is perfect for anyone to unwind after a stressful day at work.
The bedroom window also lets in a fair bit of light with the curtain withdrawn, so the owners can also cosy up in bed with a book or Kindle in hand.
The junior bedroom, on the other hand, has practicality and cuteness written all over it.
The platform where the bed is placed comes with a storage shelf perfect for keeping daily essentials like clothes and accessories.
Designers have also installed shelves at a ‘dead corner’ of the room to maximise storage space for the young occupant.
The kitchen, which once looked passé with its brick-red appearance, has been transformed to a sleek white space where even professional cooks would be envious of.
Bulky appliances in the kitchen are also neatly tucked into the wall cabinets, so there’s nothing obstructing the occupant’s movement.
A wise man once said you can only judge a flat’s appearance by the look of the bathrooms. If those words are anything to go by, then this flat is certainly a masterpiece.
The common bathroom comes in a relaxing blue-on-white colour scheme and looks straight out of a 5-star hotel.
The bathroom attached to the master bedroom is designed in a similar theme, only more spacious.
With toilets like these, we wouldn’t be surprised if our regular ‘business calls’ become 1-hour-long affairs.
Resale flats may be commonly seen as old, boring, and perhaps beyond saving. But as these talented interior designers have shown, having visionary home artists – and deep pockets – make a world of difference.
It may not be affordable to most, but at least we all got to feast our eyes on this Compassvale residence as inspiration for our future abodes.
If you were dismayed at the steep price that comes with this gorgeous reno, fret not. You can still look to our previous articles on revamping your resale homes within a tight budget.
