At least one person reportedly died after a car was crushed by a container that fell from a trailer lorry.
The accident occurred along a section of Malaysia’s North-South Expressway in Johor at about 7.43am on Friday (15 Nov).
The truck reportedly lost balance and overturned, causing its containers to fall off and collide with a Honda sedan.
A motorcycle was also involved in the accident.
According to Oriental Daily News, rescuers confirmed that a 33-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene from severe injuries.
Two men in the Honda vehicle, aged 25 and 26, sustained injuries.
Firefighters had to use specialised tools to extricate the driver while the passenger was conveyed to the hospital by members of the public.
The front bonnet of the car was destroyed as a result of the accident.
The 40-year-old trailer truck driver was reportedly unharmed.
The deceased was identified as a 33-year-old motorcyclist. The number of casualties remains unclear at the time of this article.
The accident led to a severe traffic jam that reportedly spanned 8.4km.
A video captured by a passer-by showed two containers lying on their side along the road.
Meanwhile, the truck, which was stationary on the road shoulder, was facing the direction opposite of the oncoming traffic.
The incident happened just days after a similar incident where a car was crushed by a detached container, killing a 21-year-old woman.
