S’pore Confirms 2 New Local Coronavirus Cases, 1 Has No China Travel History

1 Of 2 New Local Coronavirus Patients Has No Links To Previous Cases

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 2 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Singapore today (6 Feb), bringing the total number of confirmed patients to 30.

One of them was reportedly at the same conference the first Malaysian patient attended back in January.

The other has no clear links to any previous cases or travel history to China.

The same conference was where Malaysia’s first local patient contracted the virus.

It was also the site where a South Korean who had interacted with the Malaysian got the infection too.

Second patient had no links to any other cases

In a shocking revelation, the second new local patient has no links to any of the previous coronavirus cases in Singapore.

Neither does he have a recent travel history to China, which makes his case a curious one.

MOH is currently trying to trace his close contacts.

Condition of 2 confirmed patients worsened

The health ministry also confirmed that 2 of the 30 confirmed cases have worsened.

1 of them is currently in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU), while the other is relying on “additional oxygen support”.

As of 12pm on Thursday (6 Feb), 310 of the suspected cases have tested negative for the virus, and results for 147 are still pending.

Stay vigilant & follow Singapore coronavirus updates

The two new cases mean Singapore now has a total of 30 confirmed coronavirus cases.

The fact that they’re local transmissions may be a cause for concern for many.

But until the government issues any advisories, let’s continue to observe good personal hygiene and remain vigilant.
