On Monday (1 Nov), the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 2,470 new Covid-19 cases, of which 2,189 were in the community.
Though the numbers were relatively lower than usual, our daily death toll remained rather high, with another 14 patients succumbing to their infections.
Aged 56 and above, all but 1 of the fatalities suffered from underlying medical conditions.
In a press release on Monday (1 Nov) night, MOH reported the passing of 14 patients due to Covid-19 complications.
The casualties were aged between 56 and 95 years. All, except for 1, suffered from underlying medical conditions.
The healthy individual, however, was unvaccinated.
Singapore’s Covid-19 death toll currently stands at 421.
On the same day, MOH confirmed 2,470 new Covid-19 cases. These comprise:
The dip is expected as Covid-19 numbers over the weekends have consistently been lower than that over the weekdays.
Going by the trend seen in the graph below, we can expect to see a spike in cases on Tuesdays, which is today.

As of Monday (1 Nov), our weekly infection growth is 1.05, just above the 1.00 tipping point that will reportedly allow for some easing of measures.
Currently, 67.1% of our ICU beds are occupied, while 126 are vacant.
According to MOH’s illustrations, there seems to be an upward trend in the number of cases under these categories:
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 fatalities seems to be trending downwards since 30 Oct.
The health ministry is also keeping a close eye on 6 large active clusters.
One of these is the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), which currently has 278 cases linked.
Of these, the vast majority, or 262 of them, involve patients, while the remaining 16 are staff members.
The other 5 clusters under close monitoring comprise welfare and care homes:
Similar to the IMH cluster, most of the infected individuals are residents of these homes.
As Singapore is currently in its stabilisation phase, it remains to be seen whether we’re on track to easing restrictions soon.
But if the slightly lower weekly infection growth rate today, we hope that the numbers will be promising. This would, hopefully, give the authorities the confidence to ease prevailing measures.
Meanwhile, let’s all do our part during this trying period by minimising non-essential social activities and maintaining good hygiene practices.
