3 New Covid-19 Cases In S’pore On 19 Feb, Including 1 Diagnosed With Dengue

3 New Cases Of Covid-19 Confirmed In Singapore On 19 Feb, 5 Others Discharged

On Wed (19 Feb), the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 3 new cases of Covid-19.

There are now 84 cases in Singapore, with 4 in critical condition.

In better news, 5 more patients were discharged today, and there are now 34 cases of recovery – the most of any country outside of China.

1 case was initially diagnosed with dengue

Case 82 is a 57-year-old Singaporean who hasn’t been to China recently. She lives at Jurong West Street 41.

She developed symptoms on 9 Feb and went to Jurong Polyclinic on 2 occasions, as well as a general practitioner (GP) clinic on 12 Feb.

On 15 Feb, she was admitted as a dengue patient in a general ward at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, but later test results on 18 Feb confirmed that she was infected with Covid-19. Immediately after, she was transferred to an isolation room.

Other patients who shared the room with her have been moved to single rooms as a precautionary measure – they’ve also been tested and the results will be out later.

Cases 83 & 84 have no travel history to China, warded in NCID

Case 83 is a 54-year-old Singaporean businessman who travels frequently to Malaysia.

Details are sparse, but tests confirmed he had Covid-19 on 19 Feb. He is also confirmed to be linked to the Life Church & Missions Singapore cluster.

Meanwhile, Case 84 is a 35-year-old female related to Case 66, who in turn is linked to the Grace Assembly of God.

Both cases are warded in NCID.

Growing number of discharged cases a good sign

The current number of discharged patients is not only the highest of countries outside China, it is also a clear sign that we currently have the resources to manage cases and help them to recover.

Meanwhile, the case with dengue fever is slightly concerning, as she was initially misdiagnosed.

As long as we continue to contain the spread by washing our hands often and practising good hygiene, we can overcome Covid-19.

Hopefully more cases are discharged within the next few weeks.
