A heartwarming story about a young daughter who wakes up at 3am every day to help her mum cook food to sell in order to fund her tuition has recently caught the hearts of people in Thailand.
According to Channel 3, the 11-year-old sells boxed food with her mum just next to the school gates in the morning.
Every morning, the mother-daughter duo would get up at 3am. Together, they’d cook around 30 boxes of omelettes and scrambled eggs over rice.
From 6am until just shy of 8am, the pair would set up shop right outside the girl’s school and sell the boxed meals for ฿15 (S$0.6) each.
The money the pair makes would go to fund the young daughter’s education as well as the family’s daily expenses.
When asked by Channel 3 reporters, the 33-year-old mum revealed that she was teaching her daughter how to make a living. Because she was in the final stages of kidney failure, she wanted to make sure her daughter knew how to survive.
Currently, the mum visits the hospital thrice a week to receive dialysis.
Although they don’t make a lot of money selling the food, the mum said the experience her daughter would gain from running the business would be invaluable to her future.
