On the evening of 25 Oct, a delivery man threw a stray cat from the 26th floor of a residential building in Changsha, Hunan, China, causing the feline’s horrific death.
According to Chinese media reports, he had taken the stray cat from the stairwell of the building.
The man wearing a helmet was then caught on video entering the elevator, holding an orange cat by its neck in one hand and the meal he was delivering in the other.
The cat even tried to escape and caused the man to topple on the floor, but the feline was unsuccessful with its escape.
After reaching the top floor, he went to the rooftop then threw the cat, which was then found lying motionless on the ground.
According to the owner of the housing estate, who claimed to have witnessed the incident, the cat is a stray close to the community residents and is often fed by them.
The owner heard a noise when he went out to pick up his delivery and then saw the kitten falling from a height.
“At that time, the deliveryman who lost the cat was still filming a video to record the kitten’s death,” he added.
The community’s property management staff also confirmed that the delivery man threw the cat from the rooftop of the 26th floor.
The cat died on the spot after the fall and they buried the feline’s body.
The food delivery platform Ele.me said the incident would be reported to relevant departments.
Meanwhile, a UDN report stated that the platform has found the delivery man, who has been blacklisted and will never be hired by the company again.
The property management staff have also reported the case to the police, who said they are investigating the incident.
