Earlier this week, TikTok user Hafir (@hafircurls) shared a quirky encounter he had while making a food delivery in Pasir Ris.
Speaking to MS News, the 32-year-old Grab delivery rider recounted how his route was unexpectedly blocked by an unusual obstacle—a Snorlax.
In the now-viral 14-second video, Mr Hafir explained that he was midway through a delivery when the rain started pouring, and he stumbled upon the peculiar sight.
“I need your help, got road closure,” he said to the camera, his tone serious as the rain drenched him.
Turning the camera, he revealed the Snorlax plushie sprawled across the pavement in the drizzle.
Injecting some humour into the situation, Mr Hafir asked, “Anybody got a Poké Flute or not?”—a nod to the item used to wake up sleeping Pokémon in the Pokémon games.
Unable to contain his amusement, he added, “I cannot go, got Snorlax,” before bursting into laughter.
“Haha I’m so funny,” he wrote in the caption, clearly enjoying his own joke.
Mr Hafir, who has been a food delivery rider for some time, told MS News, “I thought the joke was funny and would love to share it.”
When asked about the incident, Mr Hafir revealed that he couldn’t recall the exact delivery order but confirmed that it took place in the same spot in Pasir Ris a few days ago. As for the Snorlax’s owner, he admitted, “No idea whose it is.”
Although he’s not a superfan of Pokémon, Mr Hafir shared that he appreciates the games and thinks they’re all great.
The video, which has nearly hit 100,000 views, has been well-received by netizens who were equally amused by the Pokémon joke and praised him for finding joy in a difficult time.
One TikTok user commented that his joke gave away the fact that he grew up in the 90s.
Another netizen advised the rider to find other ways to reroute the delivery as the Snorlax was sleeping peacefully due to the cold weather.
One netizen joked that the rider had not completed the quest to get the Poke Flute.
