The couple argued in front of 3,000 viewers before her husband pronounced their divorce with a talaq, an Islamic practice where a husband can divorce his wife by saying “I divorce you” three times.

Videos of the incident have since gone viral on TikTok, gaining as much as two million views.

Husband recently married his second wife

Ms Mustapha told Harian Metro that her husband had secretly married another woman in Thailand over three months ago.

Although she had planned to accept the second wife, her husband and the new wife often provoked and ridiculed her.

She felt particularly bitter as her husband seemed to love his second wife more.

Ms Mustapha has been married to her husband for over 10 years, and they have two children aged four and seven. She even quit her job as a local government official to take care of their family

As such, she expressed her disappointment regarding the incident, saying:

For the sake of my husband, I was willing to quit my job because I wanted to be by my husband’s side, but after 10 years this is what I got.

She also said that the beginning of their marriage was not easy but she was “willing to live hard with him”. However, when their lives changed for the better, that was when their marital issues began.
