On Tuesday (3 Nov), a rescue team in Sattahip, Chonburi province was alerted to an incident involving a stray dog that was hit by a car.
Following the accident, the dog reportedly ran into the road dividers to hide.
Upon arrival, authorities found a white dog hiding in fear between the road dividers.
They blocked the rightmost lane on the street to begin a rescue operation.
The dog was identified to be female, aged between one and two years.
According to Thai news outlet Daily News, the dog was seriously injured in the accident, leaving it unable to walk.
A Facebook video uploaded by Thairath showed five rescue workers attempting to use a rope to pull the dog out of the dividers.
The operation initially hit some difficulty as the dog struggled and kept barking out of fear. But eventually, the dog was safely rescued and sent to a pet hospital.
Ms Woraphan (name transliterated from Thai), a 47-year-old witness, shared that the dog had been roaming along the roadside before getting struck by a car.
Upon witnessing the accident, she alerted the authorities to rescue the dog.
She was unsure about who would bear the costs of the dog’s treatment and how much it would be as it had not been assessed yet, so she contacted the Watchdog Thailand Foundation for assistance.
The foundation kindly agreed to cover the treatment costs.
Several local residents were reportedly touched by the rescue, commending the good Samaritan and the authorities for their compassionate efforts.
