A pet dog in China demonstrated remarkable loyalty by tracking its owner’s scent to visit her while she was receiving treatment in hospital.
The woman, who lives alone with her dog, Ding Dang, had suddenly fallen ill and went to the hospital for medical attention, leaving the pooch at home.
According to reports, after the woman was hospitalised, the dog, worried by its owner’s prolonged absence, set off in search of her.
Relying on its keen sense of smell, Ding Dang traced her scent through city streets, fields, and neighbourhoods, travelling a remarkable distance of 16km.
When the dog arrived at the hospital, it surprised the woman by appearing at her bedside, much to her astonishment.
Overjoyed to be reunited, Ding Dang wagged its tail energetically and stayed by her side, offering comfort and companionship until the woman was discharged.
The woman’s niece captured the heartwarming moment and shared it online, where it quickly went viral.
Netizens were deeply moved by Ding Dang’s unwavering loyalty and determination.
Many compared the story to that of Hachiko, the famous Japanese dog who waited at Shibuya Station every day for nine years after his owner’s death.
