A wide range of vending machines can be found all over Singapore, but a newly launched machine offers an unexpected twist.
Dr Kart condenses an entire clinic into a portable unit, providing a broad spectrum of medical services around the clock.
The vending machine first went viral thanks to a TikTok video posted by user @sallsphee, who discovered it at the Shell station on 9 Tampines Avenue 2.
The video sparked widespread interest, with many netizens praising the innovative concept.
“Nice, [so] I need to go to a gas station to get an MC,” one user quipped in the comments.
In response to MS News’ queries, a Dr Kart spokesperson confirmed that the company is “actively exploring high-traffic areas such as malls, transportation hubs, and residential neighbourhoods” to secure their next location.
“[This is] to ensure maximum accessibility,” the spokesperson explained.
Although it only gained attention recently, the flagship vending machine in Tampines was launched in early 2024.
“The idea stemmed from the need to bridge gaps in after-hours healthcare accessibility,” the spokesperson explained. “Many people face challenges finding care late at night or during emergencies.”
The Dr Kart vending machine also offers teleconsultation services, connecting patients to a licensed doctor and pharmacist at any time of day or night.
“[This] ensures that users always have access to professional advice when they need it most,” the spokesperson added.
A look at Dr Kart’s website reveals that, despite its clinic-like services, the machine can address a wide range of conditions, from common flu symptoms to long-term illnesses such as diabetes.
For medical certificates, Dr Kart will send a copy to the patient’s email if deemed “medically necessary”.
Prescribed medication is also dispensed instantly through the machine.
