Two vehicles were caught in a dicey situation on the southbound Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) when a driver suddenly brake tested a car that was merging into their lane.
Footage of the incident posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page has garnered nearly 60,000 views at the time of writing.
Based on the dashcam footage, the incident occurred on 16 Oct at around 8.13pm.
The clip begins by showing the dashcam car slowing down, and allowing a blue Toyota on his left to pass.
After this, the car begins merging onto the slip road leading to the Benjamin Sheares Bridge. However, as soon as the dashcam car is in the same lane, the driver of the Toyota immediately hits the brakes and comes to a completely stop.
To avoid colliding with the other vehicle, the dashcam car also slows down before swerving to the right.
The Toyota driver then drives alongside the dashcam car, blocking the merge.
He was seen gesturing angrily to the dashcam car driver before moving off.
The clip outraged many netizens who condemned both drivers for their actions.
One commenter pointed out that the dashcam driver turned on his high beams over nothing, using that as justification for how both parties were at fault.
However, another said that regardless of what the dashcam car had done prior, nothing justified the brake check as it could cause an accident.
Meanwhile, one netizen noted the increase in brake testing incidents in Singapore. In August, a similar incident occurred on the Tampines Expressway when a Mercedes repeatedly slammed on the brakes nearly causing an accident with a vehicle for three minutes.
