65-Year-Old Cyclist Hit By PMD Has Passed Away

Update (25 Sep): The Straits Times reported that the 65-year-old cyclist who collided with an e-scooter last Saturday (21 Sep) has succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday (25 Sep).

Last Saturday (21 Sep) at around 10.24pm, a 65-year-old cyclist, Mdm Ong Bee Eng, was hit by a fast-moving e-scooter near Block 539 Bedok North Street 3.

The collision left Mdm Ong with severe brain and bodily injuries. She has since been in a coma.

However, her condition worsened on Monday (23 Sep). According to The Straits Times, her blood pressure dropped and she’s now on life support.

Her family members were also reportedly asked to “be prepared for the worst”.

Family of elderly cyclist wants her to “go peacefully”

Mdm Ong is currently warded at Changi General Hospital (CGH)’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

In light of her worsening condition, CGH doctors reportedly informed family members “to ask whoever wanted to see her for the last time to come”.

 

On Monday alone, more than 100 visitors came to visit the 65-year-old lady.

According to The Straits Times, Mdm Ong’s brain is no longer functioning and her blood pressure remained low throughout the day.

She is currently on life support. Her brother told journalists that they have no plans to remove it and hope “she will go peacefully.”

Family urgently seeks information

Mdm Ong’s family, though feeling distraught, are urgently seeking witnesses and information regarding the tragic accident.
