Employers fined for breaching safe distancing measures

According to the post, MOM fined 28 employers $1,000 each for breaching safe distancing measures while transporting their workers.

As evident in the pictures, the workers sat very close together on the lorries. This did not satisfy the new guidelines, which requires a safe distance of 1 metre between workers.

Ideally, employers have to place markers on the vehicle to indicate suitable seating spots for workers.

They should also reduce the number of workers in each vehicle, and inform passengers and drivers of the new measures.

4 employers under investigation for non-compliance

MOM is currently investigating 4 other employers for non-compliance with social distancing and safety measures.

They may face fines of up to $10,000 jail for up to 6 months, or both.

MOM announced in the post that the company involved in transporting the workers would also be fined if their vehicle was non-compliant.

MOM urges all companies to adhere to new measures

Though many companies have already seen to the new stricter transport measures, some have yet to implement them.

MOM urges all employers and companies who have not yet done so to implement them immediately, and continue adhering to them for the rest of the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period.

This is for the safety of all workers, as well as the public in general.
