Drunk man’s eyeball gouged out in brawl, later found by medical staff

A drunken altercation between two men took a violent turn when one of them gouged out the other man’s eyeball with his bare hands.

The horrific act took place on 16 Nov during an incident that reportedly involved one local man and one foreign man at Jalan Ara Kuda, Tasek Gelugor, Penang, Malaysia.

According to reports by The Star, Penang Police Chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said a 28-year-old man was arrested following the altercation at around 2 pm.

He added: “Preliminary investigations revealed that the 52-year-old victim had allegedly provoked the suspect, leading the foreign national to assault and injure both of the victim’s eyes.”

It is reported that the suspect gouged out the victim’s left eyeball with his hand during the fight. The victim’s right eyeball was also injured during the altercation but it remained intact.

Victim with eyeball gouged out in critical condition

Medical staff who arrived to attend to the victim and transport him to the hospital reportedly found his left eyeball not far from the crime scene and retrieved it.

The 52-year-old victim is now in critical condition and is receiving emergency treatment at the Kepala Batas Hospital, located in Penang, Malaysia.

The 28-year-old suspect was promptly arrested by the Malaysian police at the scene of the incident and has been remanded to assist with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, which is punishable by up to seven years of imprisonment.

The identity and nationality of the suspect is currently unknown.
