Fortunately, most Singaporeans don’t have to deal with bedbugs. But there are others who aren’t as lucky.
One Singaporean family is forced to go through such a predicament as they allegedly couldn’t afford to hire pest-removal services.
Mr Ong, the sole breadwinner of the family, also has to pay for the medical bills of his 2 sons and his wife, who suffer from mental illnesses and dementia respectively, according to Give.Asia’s post.
The charity website recently learned of their living conditions and launched a petition to help rid Mr Ong’s home of bedbugs and also provide new furniture.
Here’s how you can contribute if you do have spare mattresses, bed frames or coffee tables in your own apartment to donate.
Bedbugs may be impossible to live with for most people, but for Mr Ong, they are least of his worries.
According to Give.Asia, he couldn’t afford pest-removal services, which can cost up to $850, due to his limited finances.
Mr Ong’s troubles don’t end there. His wife allegedly suffers from dementia and needs constant care and attention.
Furthermore, he has to provide for his 2 sons who are both apparently suffering from mental illnesses.
The constant itch also keeps his sons up at night which isn’t ideal for their mental state.
Thankfully, some netizens have stepped in to donate furniture to Mr Ong and his family thanks to Helping Joy’s Facebook page.
However, there are some items that Mr Ong and his family still require:
If you wish to donate, you can visit their page to contact them directly.
To help Mr Ong and his family, Give.Asia also launched an online campaign to raise funds to exterminate the bedbugs and, if the funds permit, buy new furniture for the family.
If you wish to donate to help Mr Ong, you can do so here. You can also help by sharing the post to hopefully reach more Singaporeans.
MS News hopes that Mr Ong and his family gets all the help they need to eradicate the bedbugs that have been plaguing them.
