A father in Thailand has been arrested for repeatedly raping his own daughter over an 11-year period, ultimately resulting in her pregnancy.
According to Thairath, the distraught mother reached out to the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women on Friday (29 Nov), seeking help for her 18-year-old daughter.
She noticed that her daughter hadn’t used a sanitary pad in two months, sparking her worry.
The 34-year-old mother revealed that her daughter had been struggling with depression and had dropped out of school after sixth grade.
When she questioned her daughter about the missed menstrual cycle, the daughter tearfully confessed to the ongoing sexual abuse.
Her father had allegedly been raping her since she was seven years old, threatening to kill the family to maintain silence.
The most recent assault occurred just a few days prior, on 24 Nov.
Upon learning that her daughter was two months pregnant, the mother reported the case to the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women.
The foundation is renowned for its work in protecting women and children, particularly in high-profile cases.
With the foundation’s assistance, the mother and daughter filed a police report.
The daughter underwent a medical examination at a hospital before providing a statement to the police on Monday (2 Dec).
Based on the evidence, a Thai court issued an arrest warrant for the 40-year-old father on Wednesday (4 Dec).
He now faces multiple serious charges of rape, including the rape of a minor under the age of 13.
In addition, the foundation is actively collaborating with various government agencies to ensure the well-being of the mother, as well as the victimised daughter and her seven-year-old sister.
